Downloading to the Brain

Once this technology of communicating from the brain to electronic objects is perfected, we may start working on the opposite: sending information to the brain from the objects. This technology may affect many fields, such as communication, education, and entertainment.

This idea of communicating to the brain offers endless possibilities. One of these possibilities is the ability to send people data to educate them. This idea may possibly shorten the education process tremendously, compressing what would take years to learn into mere seconds. We are hoping that we will only effect the area of the brain that changes recent experiences to memories (the hippocampus), so that if there becomes such a thing as a "brain hacker", he/she would only be able to effect your memories, not control you.

Another use of this opposite technology would be the ability to communicate via thoughts, so that you may receive and send messages across the room to someone without anyone else intercepting it. This idea of "thought speak" would be useful in many ways, such as having private conversations, and being able to talk to people from long distances without shouting.

A third way to use the downloading idea would be to create a much more believable version of virtual reality. This virtual reality would actually send the sights, sounds and other senses directly to your brain, rather than having your senses receive them. In this way, it would seem to you that you are actually there, and it would be impossible to tell the difference between reality and virtual reality due to the fact that the virtual reality communicates freely with your brain.
